13th Annual Hudson Valley Shoebox Swap

On Saturday, we held the 13th (!) Annual Hudson Valley Shoebox Swap.  We've been stamping together for a long and enjoyable time.  I'm so glad everyone made it with a bit of rain, sleet, wind..., earthquake, impending eclipse... but we keep calm and carry on!

There were goodie bags, door prizes, swaps & food.  It was so great to gather to stamp and chat together again.

Curious about a shoebox swap? Keep an eye out for one in your area on Splitcoaststampers. Or if you are in NY or surrounding states, join in ours!

Cardio is hardio!  This is my twisted swap, using Freshly Made Sketches #625.

Stamps: Exercise Grumplings (Taylored Expressions), Let's Get Physical (MFT), Itty Bitty Backgrounds; Paper: Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Baked Brown Sugar, Whisper White, Etcetera DSP; Ink: Crushed Curry, Baked Brown Sugar, Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Copic Markers; Accessories: White Embossing Powder, March 2021 PP Stencil, Blending Brush, Banner Punch, 3" Circle Die, Die-Cutting Machine, Dimensionals.

Twisted Swap: It!

I've been sitting on The Horror! stamp set by Kindred Stamps for some time, and for the Twisted Swap, I finally got to use it!  Any horror genre fan will recognize this character.

I used the Faux Patina technique from Kylie Page for the brick walk.

Stamps: The Horror! (Kindred Stamps), Weather Together, No Matter What Weather (March 2020 Paper Pumpkin); Paper: Terracotta Tile, Crumb Cake, Basic Gray, Basic Black, Whisper White; Ink: Real Red, Terracotta Tile, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Stampin' Blends; Accessories: White Embossing Powder, Blending Brushes, Brick Wall EF, Brick & Mortar EF, Umbrella Weather Dies, Die-Cutting Machine, Dimensionals.

The Stamp Review Crew: Ringed with Nature

Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop: Inspiring you one stamp set at a time

Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop!  We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday.  This week we are playing with a versatile stamp set Ringed with Nature, which I was thrilled to see coordinates with some FREE Sale-a-Bration paper.   If you are following the blog hop order, you have just come from the very lovely Debra Burgin's blog.  Aren't her projects always beautiful?

Combining the current Sunday Stamps challenge with this week's set, I came up with this card for our neighbor's "something-th" milestone birthday party,  It's a bit of a twisted card, with the inside sentiment reading, "You have so many rings, I've lost count."

Here is the Sunday Stamps color combination for this week.  I also used Global Design Project sketch #350.
Stamps: Ringed with Nature; Paper: Soft Sea Foam, Night of Navy, Basic Black, Whisper White, Rings of Love DSP, Splendid Day DSP; Ink: Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Versamark; Accessories: White Embossing Powder, Tree Rings Dies, Rectangle Stitched Dies, Die-Cutting Machine.

Along the same vein, I tried the similar layout using the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder.  The hybrid embossing folder is a 2-step process, first dry embossing the cardstock with a folder and then cutting with metal dies.

Stamps: Ringed with Nature, Nature's Harvest; Paper: Gray Granite, Basic Gray, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Sun Prints DSP; Ink: Gray Granite, Versamark, Mango Melody & Gray Granite Stampin' Blends; Accessories: Linen Thread, White Embossing Powder, Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder, Harvest Dies, Die-Cutting Machine, Dimensionals.

Make sure you hop over to the always fabulous Jay Soriano to see what fun projects he has put together with this week's featured stamp.

PCC399 Beware of Joggers

Hi again!  For this week's Paper Craft Crew challenge, I am combining the sketch with a snarky mail-in swap I signed up for.  (If you are part of the Virtual Card Making Fun swap, don't look!)

I paired an older My Favorite Things stamp set with a snarky sentiment I had on hand.

This inside of the card has the punch line.

Here's this week's sketch.

Stamps: MFT Let's Get Physical, Genuine Gems; Paper: Magenta Madness, Bumblebee, Crumb Cake, Whisper White; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Magenta Madness & Just Jade Stampin' Blends; Accessories: Flowers for Every Season Gems, Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder, Die-Cutting Machine, Dimensionals.

Twisted: Livin' the Dream!

Continuing on with sharing my swaps from this past weekend's Hudson Valley shoebox swap, here is my twisted swap.

I couldn't quite find the sentiment I wanted to use, so I printed one up on the computer.  I like using color codes from My Digital Studio to match the text to the card.  This layout comes from CAS(E) this Sketch #312.

Stamps: Loads of Fun, Tastes Like Chicken, HSH Holiday Additions by There She Goes Stamps; Paper: Old Olive, Whisper White, Brocade Background DSP; Ink: River Rock, Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Copics Markers; Accessories: White Embossing Powder, Sponge, Rectangle Stitched Framelits, Oval Collection Framelits, Big Shot, e-cutter, Dimensionals.

The Stamp Review Crew: Bubble Over

Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop: Inspiring you one stamp set at a time

Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop!  We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday.  This week's hop focuses on the Occasions Catalog set, Bubble Over, which coordinates with the Bottles & Bubbles framelits.  If you are following the blog hop order, you have just come from the very talented Holly Krautkremer's blog.  Aren't her projects always beautiful?

Yesterday was the Hudson Valley Shoebox Swap, which I host every year in Millbrook, NY.  I've been busy creating swaps, including some for the favorite "Twisted Humor Swap".  It was natural to combine that effort with this week's featured stamp set.

I searched around for a humorous beer card on the interwebz.  This one was pretty perfect.  Leaning towards masculine, I'm resisting the urge to embellish further.  Men probably don't like bows on their beer.  This card uses Freshly Made Sketches #327.

Here's the inside punch line.

Stamps: Bubble Over; Paper: Lemon Lime Twist, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Bubbles & Fizz DSP, Silver Foil Sheets; Ink: Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive, Soft Suede; Accessories: 3/4" Circle Punch, Bottles & Bubbles Framelits, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

In case you missed it, here are couple past samples I created with Bubble Over.

Twisted Swap: Oh Cr**!

I picked up the Unity stamp set Just Stinkin' Cute last year for a twisted swap, and the today was the day stamp meets paper.  I needed a funny birthday card for my brother-in-law, so this was a good time to create my twisted swap for last weekend's Hudson Valley Shoebox Swap.

I did a bit of stamp surgery to isolate the "oh crap" phrase.  Inside the card, surgery on a stamp from the Here for You set provided the inside sentiment of "Sorry I don't have something more profound or poetic or sentimental to say."  Hubs helped me pull this all together - awww!

I added some Fine Tip Glue Pen adhesive to the heart for a nice, shiny coating.  I still needed to fill some space, so colored pearls always fits the bill, even when it is a poop card.  :)  This is the third card I've created using Freshly Made Sketches #278.  I gotten a lot of use out of that sketch!

Stamps: Just Stinkin' Cute (Unity), Endless Birthday Wishes, Here for You, Work of Art, Gorgeous Grunge; Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White, Fresh Prints DSP; Ink: Crumb Cake, Tip Top Taupe, Chocolate Chip, Copics; Accessories: Pearl Jewels, Confetti Hearts Border Punch, Fine Tip Glue Pen, Dimensionals.

Autocorrect

Happy April Fool's Day!  On this day, another fool was born a few years ago, my nephew.  ;)  Kids these days are glued to their phones.  Today I have another twisted humor card, although ironically, it doesn't have anything to do with April Fool's.

Autocorrect can be funny or the bane of my existence.  I'm a new smart phone owner, so I'm still in the "funny" stage.

This card uses a stamp from the now defunct company There She Goes (sniff) and a sentiment (manufacturer unknown) I picked up at the Hudson Valley Shoebox Swap.  I used the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #228.

Stamps: Technology Bytes (There She Goes), unknown sentiment; Paper: Whisper White, Schoolhouse DSP; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics; Accessories: Silver Sequin Trim, Circle Collection framelits, Big Shot.

Put on Your Party Pants

Just a quick post today.  I have a humorous birthday card I made for my brother-in-law to share.

I grabbed a zebra pattern off the internet and printed it on Whisper White card stock.  It was nice to grab a hodge-podge of retired and dusty stuff to use on this card, along with the Party Pants set from Sale-a-Bration.

Stamps: Party Pants, Loads of Fun (TSG); Paper: Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Welcome Neighbor DSP; Ink: Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Chalk marker; Accessories: Balloon Bouquet punch, Sponge, Adorning Accents edgelits, Cloud die (MFT), Big Shot, Dimensionals.

Please Don't Share...

This is my twisted swap for the Hudson Valley shoebox swap event last weekend.

It is built around the stamp from Word Play, s{ick}.  Especially this time of year, I'm always preaching clean hygiene to my daughter to help her keep from getting sick (particularly hoping she'll avoid bringing bugs home from school).  Although she gets sick more often, she sure does seem to recover faster than the old folks in the house!

I did a little bit of triple inking of the Gorgeous Grunge stamp.  First Versamark and Pear Pizzazz, then stamp off, then ink up in So Saffron and stamp.  Follow this with some clear embossing.  Gorgeous Grunge is a perfect stamp set for all sorts of twisted cards.

Here's the inside -

Stamps: Word Play, Elements of Style, A Nice Cuppa, Gorgeous Grunge; Paper: Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Watercolor Wonder DSP, Subtles Collection DSP; Ink: Regal Rose, So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, Basic Black, Versamark; Accessories: White baker's twine, Clear EP, Aquapainter, Sponge, 1-1/4" Circle punch, Cups & Kettles framelits, Big Shot, Tissue, Dimensionals.

I Am The Danger & Announcements

I love when we can insert pop culture into our crafting.  Not too long ago Mad Men creeped into my creativity journal.  For a twisted swap, I thought how funny would it be to take a cute little chemist from Pi Day and turn him Breaking Bad?

I used clean&simple layout #314.

Stamps: Spec-tacular, Pi Day (There She Goes); Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Rockabilly DSP; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Smoky Slate & Coastal Cabana Blendabilities; Accessories: e-cutter; Font: The Skinny.

More Sale-a-bration Items: Since Blendabilities are no longer available as a Sale-A-Bration redemption item, we anticipate that the demand on other Sale-A-Bration items will be higher than forecasted. For that reason, all Sale-A-Bration items (with the exception of stamps) will be available "while supplies last." To help alleviate any inconvenience this may cause, we've made more items available to redeem for free during these last few weeks of Sale-A-Bration.
