3-D Thursday: Chalk It Up to Love

As each season of Stamp Club comes to an end, I always create a little thank you for my members.  This time I used August 2015 Chalk It Up to Love Paper Pumpkin kit to create altered mini treat boxes.  It's not big, just a little something to show my appreciation.  They came out pretty cute!

The instructions for the altered box came from Rachel Tessman.

It's worth repeating, having Paper Pumpkin kits on hand is key for quick birthday cards that my daughter always seems to need for friends' parties.  The 3-D kits are perfect for quick little thank you gifts for my downline, stamp club customers, or teachers' gifts.

You'll want to start collecting these Paper Pumpkin kits for yourself for a breadth of supplies for last minute projects. Make sure to subscribe by the 10th of the month to receive the next kit.

Because perfectly coordinated products have always been one of Stampin’ Up!’s key strengths, we designed June’s Paper Pumpkin kit as a stepping stone to the spectacular Broadway Bound suite on p. 68–69 of the 2018–2019 annual catalog.

Our uniquely designed June kit and coordinating suite give you the opportunity to expand your experience from crafting with a single kit to creating with a full range of products offered by Stampin’ Up!.  Make sure to subscribe by June 10 to get in on this fun colorful kit!

Technique Tuesday: Black Ice

Hi Everyone!  For May's Stamp Club, I thought we'd try the black ice technique.

This technique reminds me of tintype or daguerreotype vintage photographs.  I'm using the lovely set Waterfront from the Occasions catalog, which is returning in the Annual Catalog (yay!).  I'm not sure the origin of this technique; I used instructions from Melissa Kerman.

I put my tintype photo on a polaroid layout - is that mix-matching eras?  I kept it simple, focusing on the technique, and put the sentiment on the inside.

Here's the outline of the technique:

  • Starting with a silver foil sheet, use the direct to paper (DTP) technique with Basic Black Archival ink pad to create black linear streaks (heavier on the edges, light in the center).
  • Stamp images with Basic Black Archival ink.  Set aside to dry or heat set.
  • With a Versamark ink pad, draw the pad very lightly across the front of the sheet in a vertical direction using the DTP technique.  Don't apply any pressure; let the weight of the ink pad do the work.
  • Cover the entire piece with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.
  • See Melissa's YouTube video for tips on the amount of pressure to use for the DTP technique.

Stamps: Waterfront; Paper: Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Silver Foil Sheets; Ink: Black Archival Ink, Versamark; Accessories: Linen Thread, Clear Embossing Powder, Dimensionals.

Turning 29 Again!

For this month's Stamp Club, I am highlighting another retiring stamp set, Number of Years, which coordinates with the Large Numbers Framelits.

This is a great set to use for personalized cards/scrapbook pages with the particular # of years, anniversaries, school grade, etc.  So what number could I use for Stamp Club that would please the masses?  Well, everyone knows someone who just keeps turning 29 years old and refuses to get older.

I do love the flower boughs in this set and hate to see them go.

Stamps: Number of Years; Paper: Peekaboo Peach, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Whole Lot of Lovely DSP, Naturally Eclectic DSP; Ink: Peekaboo Peach, Lemon-Lime Twist, Night of Navy, Memento Tuxedo Black; Accessories: White Baker's Twine, Banner Punch, Stapler, Large Numbers Framelits, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

Retirement sale is continuing.  Make sure to grab your favorites before they are gone for good.  Selected items have been recently DISCOUNTED, so don't miss those savings!  See list below.

Cookie-Cutter Sweet Home & Catalog Items for SAB

For stamp club, we always make a project from the annual catalog.  I've had Sweet Home on my list for a while, but it's really a set that works best with the coordinating Home Sweet Home thinlits.

Ok great, so it's easy to put together a fun gingerbread house.  Pairing with the gingerbread man from Cookie-Cutter Christmas is a no-brainer.  So that results in a Christmas in March card?!  So not like me!  But we'll go with it.

I used the Rainbow Builder Framelits for the fluffy snow die-cut and clouds.  Kinda looks like cotton balls you might find under a Christmas tree, simulating snow, which is actually perfect for this cartoon-like card.  The round bubbles feel happy.

The white candies were heat embossed, and the gingerbread man's eyes are made shiny with a drop from the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

I carried the fun round clouds to the inside as well, and also used the sentiment from Cookie-Cutter Christmas for the inside.

Stamps: Sweet Home, Cookie-Cutter Christmas; Paper: Emerald Envy, Soft Sky, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Basic Black, Whisper White, Wood Textures DSP; Ink: Real Red, Emerald Envy, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Whisper White Craft; Accessories: Fine-Tip Glue Pen, Clear Embossing Powder, Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, Owl Builder Punch, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Home Sweet Home Thinlits, Rainbow Builder Framelits, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

SSC174 Magical Mermaid

Hello All!  Time for another Sunday Stamps sketch challenge. This week's sketch is brought to us by Claire.

In an attempt to bang out my last stamp club card, I combined this sketch with the Occasions set Magical Day.

We haven't tried the Brusho Crystal Colour yet, so I used that for the background.  With water, I thoroughly wetted some watercolor paper, then sprinkled on blue and green Brusho crystals.  I spritzed more with water so it really pooled and blended, and then set aside to dry.

Here's this week's sketch.

Stamps: Magical Day; Paper: Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Emerald Envy, Tranquil Tide, Very Vanilla, Myths & Magic DSP, Watercolor Paper; Ink: Cajun Craze, Emerald Envy, Bermuda Bay, Sahara Sand, Basic Black; Accessories: Emerald Envy Metallic Thread, Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Brusho Crystal Colour, Corner Rounder Punch, Water Spritzer, Watercolor Brush, Magical Mates Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

SAB 2018: Springtime Foils

I finally got a chance to sit down and play with some goodies from the 2nd Sale-a-bration release.  Using Fab Friday #131 sketch and an older color combination #331 from the Paper Players, I put together a quick and easy notecard.

The Springtime Foils DSP has beautiful silver, gold, and rose gold (!) embossed paper, and it is nice thick quality.  Coloring is simple and easy with the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  In this case, I colored and cut out a flower & leaves from the paper.

The Basket Weave embossing folder is part of the Blooming Basket bundle, available for FREE with a $100 order, and it is sure to become a staple in my stampin' supplies.

Paper: Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Whisper White, Springtime Foils DSP, Copper Foil Sheets; Ink: Pink Pirouette, Old Olive Stampin' Blends; Accessories: White Baker's Twine, Banner Triple Punch, Stapler, Basket Weave Embossing Folder, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

Both these items, along with the rest of the Sale-a-Bration items, are available through March 31.

SAB 2018: Lots of Lavender

Earlier this month some of us stampers attended the Binghamton Shoebox Swap*.  It's a fun day of stamping and gabbing and eating.  And I participated in a no-sentiment note card swap.

I used Freshly Made Sketches #322 for this one, and I chose to watercolor the lavender rather than using the fill stamps that came with the set.  You know, because I like to make things difficult for myself.  No, the real reason is that I like the irregular look of watercolor, but I didn't have time to go crazy with the shading though.

This is a great design, with lots of fun layers, so I decided to use it for March's stamp club as well.  Members can add a sentiment as they might need it, inside or out.

Stamps: Lots of Lavender; Paper: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Whisper White, Color Me Irresistible DSP; Ink: Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Old Olive, Basic Black; Accessories: Fresh Fig 1/8" Sheer Ribbon, Delicate White Doilies, Banner Punch, Aquapainter, Layered Squares Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

*You can find local events like these on Splitcoaststampers, and in fact I'm hosting one on March 17 in Millbrook, NY.  Join us!!
