The Stamp Review Crew: Endless Wishes

Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop!  We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday.  This time we are hopping along with the fun and popular holiday set, Endless Wishes.  If you are hopping around in a circle, you have just come from Deb Burgin's blog.  Deb has such a lovely style!

This set is perfect for clean & simple cards.

Using Clean&Simple Layout #299 and also playing along with Mix-Ability Challenge #79, Glued, I mixed reinker and Elmer's glue to stamp some of the snowflake images.  This gives a fun, dimensional look.

My coloring media (two or more required) were Classic ink, Elmer's glue mixture, and Encore Silver ink. This card is also a sneak peek to this Friday's mashup challenge.

Stamps: Endless Wishes; Paper: Pear Pizzazz, Smoky Slate, Whisper White; Ink: Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz reinker, Smoky Slate reinker, Encore Silver; Accessories: Silver baker's twine, Frosted Sequins, Clear EP, Elmer's glue, Dimensionals.

Another Mix-Ability challenge, Rice, Rice, Baby!, calls for watercoloring and sprinkling the background with rice.  Then set aside to dry completely.  This makes for a very interesting background.

The first time around, I didn't have enough background color, so I had to try again with some watercolor paint.  Same paper; there's no wasting in watercoloring.

I chose my sentiment so it wasn't specifically a holiday card.  I could use it in January as well.  :)  I imagine this was the view out Buffalo's front window recently.

Stamps: Endless Wishes; Paper: Smoky Slate, All is Calm DSP, Silver Foil sheet, Watercolor paper; Ink: Soft Sky, Marina Mist, Pacific Point, Basic Gray; Accessories: Koi Watercolor Paint, Watercolor brush, Rice.

Make sure you check out the next stop to see what lovelies the fabulous Ann Schach has put together with Endless Wishes

Visions of Acadia Moose

We go to Acadia National Park in Maine every most years.  This early snow storm has kinda dampened out plans this time.  There's a moose in front of one of the hotels in Bar Harbor.  They put a scarf on him when it gets cold.  The stamp set Visions of Santa reminded me of him.

I was playing along with Mix-Ability Challenge #80, Sparkling Watercolors!  I had to put my thinking cap on to come up with something to sparkle up my watercolor.  Then I remembered I had Smooch accents and sprays and shimmer paints.  After watercoloring the PJs, I sponged Champagne Shimmer Paint onto it for some sparkle.  This card uses Freshly Made Sketches #162.

Stamps: Visions of Santa; Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Whisper White, Trim the Tree DSP; Ink: Black Stazon; Accessories: Cherry Cobbler ribbon, White baker's twine, Crystal Effects, Champagne Shimmer Paint, Koi Watercolors, Aquapainter, Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, Scallop Tag punch, Dimensionals.

Are you looking for a fun little kit to give to a crafty friend?  Or a quick, yet over-the-top, handmade gift for a co-worker?

I have three (3) Tea Bag Dispenser Box kits left, with the original papers as shown, and there is a new choose-your-preferred-mailing-option feature.  Grab yours before they are gone.
*Tea cup charms not included.

Mix-Ability Catch-Up

Time for more Mix-Ability Challenge catch-up.  It is a learning process for me to dabble in different art media, and I hope you are inspired to try it too!

MIX72 - Some Like It Hot!

This challenge called for some heat-reactive medium.  I remembered I had one pot of Pearl Ex, so I tried some heated pearls. At a second shot at it, I applied some acrylic paint via the galaxy technique before the glue and pearls.  This card uses Fab Friday Challenge #53.

MIX75 - I Love a PARADE

In this challenge, we were to use an item that appears several times.  Here I used the melted crayon background, and also joined Ways To Use It #485, For Crayon Out Loud, and #486, Balloons.

MIX77 - Patched

Here we were to use some old, past samples to patch a project together.  I used spare pieces on my desk to create a feather layout.  A photo from pinterest was my inspiration. The sewing was quite a challenge, especially with the machine fighting the whole way.

If you are interested in the supplies used for these projects, you can find them in my SCS gallery.

Don't forget the Online Extravaganza is underway, through December 2.  Look for more door busters on December 1.  And here are this week's Weekly Deals -

FM187 Weather Inspiration

Time for another Friday Mashup challenge, and due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, this challenge will run for two weeks.

I gave the Northern Lights Tutorial a try, using the a pinterest photo as inspiration.  Of course, this leads to the question, "Is aurora borealis considered a weather phenomenon?"  I'll let you ponder that.  Lots of sponging here... getting my arm workout today.  Once the main panel was done, it just didn't need an embellishment, so I let that part of the challenge slide.

I guess I had polar bears on the brain after our recent trip to the Bronx Zoo.  This guy was playing with a stick.

Here's this week's Mashup Challenge & my inspiration photo -

  • Create a project using "a Metal Embellishment (Staple, Brad, Grommet etc.)".
  • Create a project using "Weather as your Inspiration" think storms, Clouds, Rain, Sun, Warm Sandy Beaches.
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Weather inspired project with a Metal Embellishment".
Stamps: White Christmas; Paper: Whisper White; Ink: Daffodil Delight, Pistachio Pudding, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder, Night of Navy, Basic Black, Whisper White craft, Black Sharpie; Accessories: White gel pen, Sponges.

Greetings of the Season & More

You know when you change and flip and change a layout, and it just isn't working for you, and then, all of the sudden, it is like the light is shining down and the card colors are just singing to your eyes?  Ok, maybe that just happens to me.  Card design is like pornography.  (Um, where's she going with this?)  You can't really define it, but you know it (in a good way) when you see it.  Long story short, this one was speaking to me.

This card uses CAS(E) this Sketch #99, and the different card cut came from the sample by Maureen Merritt.  Isn't it fun?

Stamps: Festival of Trees, Greetings of the Season (retired); Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Trim the Tree DSP; Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Soft Suede marker; Accessories: Tree punch, Scallop Edge border punch, Itty Bitty Accents punch pack, On Point EF, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

MDSM91 Transylvania Epic

Hi Everyone!  This week's MDS Monday sketch is brought to us by Tara, and it will be running for two weeks.  The challenge is to use a number in your layout.

My husband has a dart board in the garage where he pins all his race numbers, so I just couldn't get the pin board idea out of my head.  I ended up downloading a background off the internet to fit the bill.  I love how MDS is flexible with that; I can just create a new folder in the Components area of the software and easily use the new items.

Here's the sketch -

MDS Elements: Smitten Alphabet, Natural Composition Overlays, Cog punch, Staple & Stitching, Corkboard and Office Notes downloads by Peppermint Creative; Font: Copperplate Gothic.
