Stampin' Addicts Sale-a-Bration Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin' Addicts Sale-a-bration Blog Hop! Since the SAB catalog isn't available quite yet (it starts on Tuesday), this is a great way to have a sneak peek at the products.  For each $50 spent, you can choose a free item from the SAB catalog. On top of the six stamp sets, papers, ribbon & buttons, My Digital Studio digital content CD, and even SAB-exclusive embossing folder, there is also selected stamps and accessories from the main catalog to choose from! Buttons, card stock, diagonal scoring plate, piercing pack.... there is something for everyone.

If you have been following the blog hop in order, you have just come from Cindy's blog featuring the stamp set Bloomin' Marvelous.  Cindy always has over-the-top beautiful projects!  For my stop on this blog hop, I am highlighting the stamp set Feeling Sentimental.

In this card, I attempted to create an old black & white photo with the images.  Perhaps this will remind the recipient of their visit to London.

You can see the focus here is on the red box by using color.  This is an effect I've used with Photoshop; how fun to give it a try with traditional stamping!  I brayered the background and sponged some clouds with Basic Gray ink.  I could imagine using this layout for a travel journal or scrapbook page.

Stamps: Feeling Sentimental, Up, Up & Away, Loving Thoughts; Paper: Summer Starfruit, Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP; Ink: Real Red, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Basic Gray, Whisper White Craft, Black Stazon; Accessories: Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, Aquapainter, Brayer, Sponges, Lacy Brocade EF, Big Shot, Sewing machine, Thread, Dimensionals.

I was inspired by Karren J. to try some chalkboard art.  I thought it would be fun and would coordinate with the vintage feel of this set.

I embossed the images with white embossing powder, added some Whisper White craft ink with sponging, and then drew in some white colored pencil lines and swirls.  This project came out a little large for a card, so I made it into framed art instead.  The frame was created with Soft Suede card stock and the Woodgrain background stamp.

Stamps: Feeling Sentimental, From My Heart, Vintage Verses, Artistic Etchings, Established Excellence, That's the Ticket, Take a Ticket wheel, Woodgrain BG; Paper: Primrose Petals, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Basic Black; Ink: Midnight Muse, Early Espresso, Whisper White Craft, Versamark; Accessories: Crumb Cake seam binding White embossing powder, Ticket Duo builder punch, Sponge, White colored pencil, Stapler.

The bicycle image in this set is called a penny farthing.  A couple fun facts: This type of bicycle is direct-drive because one pedals to turn the front wheel, and the front wheel is very large so one can go faster.  The penny farthing image reminds me of a book by H.G. Wells, The Wheels of Chance: A Bicycling Idyll, and also a quote by H.G. Wells.  Evidently he was quite the bicycle enthusiast.  This led to a bookmark project.

Actually I made two bookmarks, one traditional and one with MDS.  The quote says, "When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race."  Perfect for any bicyclist or bike commuter!  I wish they had more bike lanes in the U.S., but I digress.  You could easily take this idea and transform it into a little notecard, maybe come up with your own fun quote for each of the images from the set.

Tradtional Supplies: Stamps: Feeling Sentimental, En Francais BG; Paper: Summer Starfruit, Crumb Cake, Sycamore Street DSP, Ink: Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Accessories: Summer Starfruit satin ribbon, White baker's twine, Linen thread, Corner Rounder punch, Sponge, Sewing machine, Thread; MDS Elements: Stamps: Feeling Sentimental, Days to Remember overlay, Presto Patterns script; Papers: Crumb Cake Textured; Color Palette: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla; Font: Clipper Script.

Both Little Missy and I LOVE ferris wheels.  It is the first ride we hit at the local county fair.  I thought the ferris wheel image would make a cute scrapbook page, and since I am mostly a digital scrapper, I used the Feeling Sentimental digital images from the One Big Sale-a-Bration MDS CD.  When I was about her age I wondered if there were ferris wheels in heaven.  I thought I just couldn't live with them.  :)

It would be easy to recreate this page with traditional scrapping supplies.  Debra (WebDeb) will have more on this MDS CD content later in the blog hop.

MDS Elements: Stamps: Feeling Sentimental, Days to Remember overlay, Ink Splatter; Papers: Crumb Cake Textured, World Spectacular DSP; Color Palette: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla; Accessories: Attic Boutique embellishments, Staple, Spiral punch, Petite Pennant punch, Freeform Stitch #1 circle; Font: Clipper Script.

Heidi...i absolutely love, love all of these and will be "borrowing" some of your ideas. My friend Lisa and I wanted to meet you in particular at Leadership, but alas, it just got too hectic. We are both great fans of your work and thank you for sharing with us. Blessings, Diane

Beautiful, as always, Heidi. Highlighting the phone booth with the red is genius! Love the SB page (she is so cute) and the chalkboard card makes me want to try that technique now. ;-)

Yay, finally someone who realises that the stamp is of a red telephone boxc, which is completely different from a blue police phone box/TARDIS. Lovely card.
