Countdown to Christmas: Buche de Noel

Well, the race is on now!  The turkey is gone, we've done a bunch of shopping (shopping, shopping, shopping), and now we have to decorate.  4 more weeks to go...

This month's template at Paper Crafters Sampler can help out for either gift giving or decor.  When I saw Melanie's sample, I immediately thought of Buche de Noel, the Christmas yule log cake I learned about in French class.  I've even made a couple, which are yummy and deadly!  Mmmmm, I want cake now!  LOL!

I followed Mel's instructions to make this one.  The top grain layer can be removed to open the box at the top and reveal a bunch of yummy goodies inside.  But I chose to glue mine shut to use as decor.

Here's a look at the side, decorated to really look like a cut log.

And I thought it would be fun to make holly out of rolled flowers.

I was torn on how to decorate the log.  I have more ideas, so I'll have to come back and share again later.

Make sure you check out November's issue of Paper Crafters Sampler to get the template and see all the wonderful ideas the ladies came up with this month!
