The Stamp Review Crew: Dotty Angles

Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop! We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday. This time we are hopping along with a set that was a must-have for me last year when the catalog was released, Dotty Angles. This set makes such fun backgrounds, but I can't wait to see if someone has an unique use for the images!

I'm combining a couple of my design assignments; this project is also a sneak peek of this week's Friday Mashup, embellishment cluster & ombre element.

Have you seen the new Banner Triple punch coming in the new catalog? This 3-in-1 punch is really cool! It will punch a banner tail in a strip that is 1", 1-1/2", or 2" wide. So quick and fun. A must have!!

Stampin' Addicts New In Colors Blog Hop

Welcome to Stampin' Addicts New In Colors Blog Hop! How exciting to welcome some new colors to our collection! As a beginner stamper, I focused on stamp images. But now days, it is all about the color, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this year's. Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy the yummy color tour.

If you have been following the blog hop in order, you have just come from Tanya's blog featuring Mint Macaron. Weren't her projects fabulous? For my stop on this blog hop, I am highlighting the new In Color Tip Top Taupe.

When I chose Tip Top Taupe as a featured color, I thought about monochromatic projects. In order to get a good feel for the new colors, and which colors might go together, I just sat down and started watercoloring some images. Watercoloring is so relaxing for me, but I digress. Here's what I came up with -

Here, of course, it is not about color combinations but rather coloring layer upon layer to get some good shadows and highlights on the image. Not to mention watercoloring doesn't have to be perfect. :) NOTE: Stamp image Pleasant Poppies is retiring and only available through June 2.

I've always wanted to make a flapper dress with the Fringe scissors. I grabbed a dress silhouette image off the internet and layered from there.

Speaking of color combinations, let's try mixing it up a bit. Tip Top Taupe and Delightful Dijon makes me think sunflowers.

FM211 Watercolored Tree & Weekly Deals

Holly is bringing us this week's Friday Mashup challenge with a watercoloring sketch. I'm posting a little early in preparation for tomorrow's In Color blog hop (woohoo!).

If you've taken any Online Card Classes, you might recognize this tree. I loved this sample from the watercoloring class, and I tucked it away for future use.

Here I used the five new In Colors to create my tree. Except for the sentiment, this is all free-hand. How fun, huh?

MDSM115 The Long, Sad Good-bye

For our last MDS Monday challenge, Tami has asked us to create with our favorite download. Well, one has to sit and think for a while on that one.

I find overlays to be the most useful, most often used downloads. The supporting characters of our pages who don't get enough credit. Over the years I've loved the grungy stuff like Back to School and Downtown Grunge, but I've also like brightly colored kits like Playful Polka Dots, Sweet Details, and My Sweet Pea. I couldn't decide. Finally I had to scan through all my pages and find one that I really love.

My latest passion is to strive for pages that tells the story and emotions through the design and photos. You can almost hear the words coming off the page. With that, I reworked a page, which I actually made early on using My Sweet Pea. I just love how all the wonderful patterns of this download work together seamlessly.

FM210 Butterfly Birthday

This week Cynthia brings us a butterfly Friday Mashup challenge.

This color combo caught my eye recently, and I thought I'd better get on since it uses the retiring Crisp Cantaloupe. I'm not typically a butterfly girl, but I can break out the feminine when I have to (sparingly!). ;)

MDSM114 Celebrate Ferris Wheels

I had it kinda easy with this week's MDS Monday challenge. Cindy's sketch reminded me of a page I made using the Sale-a-Bration 2013 download. Rather than reinvent the (ferris) wheel, I'll share it again.

"Both Little Missy and I LOVE ferris wheels. It is the first ride we hit at the local county fair. I thought the ferris wheel image would make a cute scrapbook page, and since I am mostly a digital scrapper, I used the Feeling Sentimental digital images from the One Big Sale-a-Bration MDS CD. When I was about her age, I wondered if there were ferris wheels in heaven. I thought I just couldn't live with them. :)"
