MDSM110 Know Thyself

It is Yapha's turn to host the sketch this week on MDS Monday.

I've been scrapping more everyday photos lately, and I tried to find a photo that would stand on its own. This is taken in an abandoned factory in the forest where we often mountain bike. Socrates philosophy as graffiti always amuses me.  You can't get to this location by car; only by walking or biking, and it is quite a distance.  I love the thought of being deep in nature and then contemplating the quote.

Hey, heads up!  Tomorrow the retirement list comes out, and all MDS digital downloads, software, and print products will be reduced 30% through June 2.  Woohoo... time to stock up before they are gone!

Here is this week's sketch -

The Stamp Review Crew: Zoo Babies

Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop!  We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday.  This time we are hopping along with a fun animal set, designed for babies but really can be used for so much more, Zoo Babies.  If you are hopping around in a circle, you have just come from Rochelle Blok's blog.  She always has such fabulous projects!

February's Paper Pumpkin kit gave me a great idea for a card, the cascade fold.  Using two of the accordion bases, I was able to create this fun landscape-shaped card.

I stamped and fussy cut and stamped and cut some more.  Little tweaks here and there, and a little advice from hubs, I think I'm finally happy with it.

I outlined how I created this card:
  • To create this card, I altered the instructions from this Splitcoaststampers technique challenge.
  • Remove 2 panels from each of two scored bases (remaining base size 3-3/4 x 16-1/2").
  • Cut base diagonally so one side is 1-5/8" high and the other is 3-3/4" high.
  • Make a pencil mark at 13/16" on short side and 1-7/8" on long side (half way point).  Draw a faint pencil line to join these marks.
  • On one base piece, cut up to median pencil line from the bottom on score lines #1 and #5.  Cut down from the top to median pencil line on score line #3.
  • On the other base piece, cut down to median pencil line from the top on score lines #1 and #5.  Cut up from the bottom to median pencil line on score line #3.
  • Assemble card by sloting pieces together and decorate.
Stamps: Zoo Babies, Ray of Sunshine, And Many More; Paper: Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Whisper White, Lullaby DSP; Ink: Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey, Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie & Daffodil Delight markers, Black Stazon; Accessories: Layers of Gratitude Paper Pumpkin kit, In Color thick baker's twine, Circle punches, Cupcake Builder punch, Confetti Heart border punch, Sponges, Bitty Banners framelits, Big Shot.

FM205 Bouncing Tide

Tara is bringing us this week's Friday Mashup challenge, a technique and a sketch.

For my card, I inked up one side of the brayer with Lost Lagoon and the other with Pool Party and bounced the brayer on the card stock.  I filled the white space in with inking the full brayer with Pool Party and bouncing on the card stock.

This week's Mashup! Challenge:

  • Create a project using "the sketch".
  • Create a project using the "Bouncing Brayer Technique (tutorial)".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project using the Bouncing Brayer Technique and the Sketch".
