What a fun challenge this week on MDS Monday!  Create a (heritage) page with a vintage feel and/or vintage photo.

I pulled out my grandmother's old passport to create this page. I can only imagine what this trip must have been like!

FM179 Inky Spooky Tree

This week, Avery brings us a fun technique challenge for the Friday Mashup, Ink Blowing.

I played along with Mix-Ability Challenge #76, Finger Painting, as well.  After creating a background on watercolor paper, I tried my best to make a tree with ink blowing.  I mixed reinkers with white acrylic paint and dabbed some flower blobs onto my tree.  :)

MDSM83 Freeforming Text

Time for another MDS Monday challenge.  This week Cindy has us using the freeform tool to create text around photo corners.  Fun!

These are photos of Missy's first running race.  In fact, first race ever.  She needed some encouragement, but she is an old pro at racing now... mostly bikes.

I have a hint for you with the freeform.  I found the lower two corners were a little difficult to get the text right-side up.  Here's a couple screenshots of how I managed mine -

First under the "FREEFORM" tool on right, click "Add Line". From there click the line and choose "Insert Point".

Grab the right point and pull it up over the middle point to create a backwards "L".  This point will be hidden from view under the window header, but it will still work.

This method will work for the lower right corner.  For the lower left corner, start with a vertical line.

Control Freaks BOO to You! Blog Tour

Welcome... It's time to hop along with the super fabulous Control Freaks group!  This month's theme is, as you might guess, Halloween!  I'm a big fan of Halloween, so I had to play along.  You've probably arrived here from Debbie Henderson's blog.  Her projects are always so beautiful!

I was very attracted to the Note Tag punch in the Holiday catalog, so I had to think of a way to use it.  I just love little candy holders, so here's a new quick-and-easy nugget holder.

Start with 1-1/2" strips of cardstock, stick the paper into the back of the punch to only punch the upper edge.  Then score 2-1/4" and 3-1/4" from the punched edge to create the nugget holder.  You can fold the holder and make a little pencil line to mark where the next upper edge punch should go.

Grab some nuggets, decorate, and you're done!  There are tons of fun stamp sets in the Holiday catalog for decorating!

I challenged myself to make a project with the Tee-Hee-Hee stamp set, and the little pieces of the witch's outfit just said dress up to me.  My daughter loves interactive cards, so this is a greeting card for a child, who can then position the pieces on the card as he/she likes (think Colorform).

To make the pieces repositionable, I applied Tombo liquid glue to the back of the pieces and let dry overnight.  I put the "stickers" on a piece of Window Sheet.

I had the help of my e-cutter to cut out the frame pieces.

MDSM82 Flower Child

Tara brings us a sketch and challenge right up my alley for this week's MDS Monday, lots of white-space (or vanilla-space) with a pop of color.

It is a good thing that MDS is on-the-go crafting, because I have had a heck of a time sitting down and getting my pages done.  We wrapped up the mountain biking season and vacation, and now we start right into the cyclocross season.  We have double weekends for the next four weekends.  I'm already tired.  Anyway, here's a page I whipped up on the way to Saturday's race.  I took Tara's sketch pretty literally and focused on the photo.

Papa always wants to get rid of the dandelions, but Missy and I happen to like them!
