MDSM72 The Crookedest Street

Holly did a great job this week coming up with a versatile and fun sketch on MDS Monday that could be for a card or page.

I had fun going with the grunge look for the Crookedest Street page, with lots of hardware accents.

MDS Elements: Epic Overlays, This and That Make Note, Well Worn DSP, Everyday Woodcuts, Shaped Clips, Candid Frames, Staple, Bodoni MT Poster C font.

FM166 Nautical Hello

Holly brings us this week's fun Friday Mashup challenge.

Here's Your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using "Sequins".
  • Create  a "Hello or Hi project".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Hello project with Sequins".
I'm not quite done with the Sea Street set yet. I have a couple more ideas up my sleeve.

I've had this one in mind since I saw a card on Pinterest using a Papertrey set.  Kinda clean, simple, fun.  You can't beat a card you can splatter!

Stamps: Work of Art, Sea Street, Endless Birthday Wishes; Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White; Ink: Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy; Accessories: Gold Sequin Trim, Coastal Cabana baker's twine, Circle & Scallop Circle punches, Dimensionals.

MDSM71 New Kitten

You may have read on the MDS Monday challenge page, we are now using sketches that can be interpreted as a card or a page sketch.  Here's Tami's sketch for this week.

Here's what I came up with.

I'm not sure how I came across the newspaper headline idea.  It was Try #3 to get this page made, and it seemed like a cute idea.

I did ombre two ways, by using a background chevron pattern with an ombre feature and overlaying progressively smaller rectangles with opacity of 10%.

MDS Elements: Enjoy Every Moment, This and That Make Note, Convention 2012 DSP, Traveling_Typewriter, Playbill, Stencil fonts.

FM165 Grad Bubbles

Time for another Friday Mashup challenge.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using the colors" Black , White/Ivory and one other color of your choice".
  • Create a project using a "Word Bubble".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Black & White project with a Word Bubble on it".
High school graduations are late over here on the East Coast, so I am just pulling together my grad cards.

Using school colors, I was able to follow this week's Friday Mashup challenge for some dual purpose cards.  These cards follow CAS(E) this Sketch #77.  Bubbles sketch + word bubbles = another double whammy.  :)

Stamps: Bravo; Paper: Real Red, Tangelo Twist, Basic Black, Basic Black Core'dinations, Whisper White, Polka Dot Parade DSP, Fresh Prints DSP, Retro Fresh DSP, I Am Me DSP; Ink: Memento Black, Black Stazon marker; Accessories: Silver Mini brads, Circle punches, Square Lattice EF, Word Bubbles framelits, Big Shot, Black crochet thread.

MDSM70 Spring Worms!

This week's MDS Monday challenge, Joan has a card sketch for us, but it would work for a page sketch just as well.

Go with whatever project strikes your fancy, and join us!  I'm continuing to work on my photobook, so I went with the sketch as a page.

Janneke is always "saving" the worms from the wet driveway, and it is quite a celebration the first time the worms come out each spring.

MDS Elements: My Friend, Natural Composition Overlays, Pocketful of Posies DSP, Night of Navy Textured, Sara's Sequins, Dotted Scallop Ribbon punch, Square721 BT, CK KOTM1 fonts.

FM164 Sea Street Canvas

Lynda's got a challenge for us at the Friday Mashup this week.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project for "Father's Day or that special guy in your life".
  • Create a project with "Stamping on anything other than Card Stock".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Father's Day project with Stamping on anything but Card Stock".
The fifth card already with Sea Street. This set keeps calling my name.

Using Canvas Creations sheets, I watercolored the background with Pool Party and stamped some fishies.  Whew!  That part of the challenge was really tripping me up.  The canvas takes up color really easily, and stamps quite nicely.  You won't get as crisp of an image as on paper, because of the texture, but you can see it really adds character to the underwater scene.

I left it sentiment-free for future use.  This card uses Freshly Made Sketches #138.

Stamps: Sea Street, Gorgeous Grunge; Paper: Lost Lagoon, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Moonlight DSP; Ink: Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake; Accessories: Canvas Creations, Linen Thread, Banner punch, Aquapainter, Happy Whale die, Big Shot, Sewing Machine, Thread, Dimensionals.
