MDSM70 Spring Worms!

This week's MDS Monday challenge, Joan has a card sketch for us, but it would work for a page sketch just as well.

Go with whatever project strikes your fancy, and join us!  I'm continuing to work on my photobook, so I went with the sketch as a page.

Janneke is always "saving" the worms from the wet driveway, and it is quite a celebration the first time the worms come out each spring.

• Create a project for "Father's Day or that special guy in your life".
• Create a project with "Stamping on anything other than Card Stock".
• or Mash it Up! and create a "Father's Day project with Stamping on anything but Card Stock".

The fifth card already with Sea Street. This set keeps calling my name.

Using Canvas Creations sheets, I watercolored the background with Pool Party and stamped some fishies.  Whew!  That part of the challenge was really tripping me up.  The canvas takes up color really easily, and stamps quite nicely.  You won't get as crisp of an image as on paper, because of the texture, but you can see it really adds character to the underwater scene.

I left it sentiment-free for future use.  This card uses Freshly Made Sketches #138.

MDSM69 New Rain Gear!

Missy was so happy with her matching rain gear for Christmas.

I have to admit this sketch was a challenge for me, a good challenge.  I had to think for a while to be able to interpret it, and in the end, it was very fun!  Another great page I would have never thought up on my own, and I am quite pleased with it.

Avery had a sketch and patterned paper challenge for us this week at the Friday Mashup.

So I had a card idea, then switched gears to watercoloring and completely forgot about the patterned paper.  Mistake #1.

I'm rolling along on my card, and after initial watercolor blobs, as always happens, it starts to come together.  After it's all done, I start cutting my panel and cut in the wrong spot.  Oh, yes, that did just happen.  Mistake #2.  Ok, don't panic.  We'll just move the twine up a bit.  Sigh.

Stampin' Up! Sea Street Birthday & Weekly Deals

Hi Everyone,  Did you get a chance to look at the new catalog yet?  I just love stamp sets with matching patterned paper, and there is a really cute, playful set called Sea Street, along with Maritime DSP.

This octopus image can be a little tricky, as hand-cutting is a challenge.  My goal here was a process to allow as much of the background to show through without inflicting terrible fussy-cutting pain on stampers.  Here I laid down one of the Circle Collection framelits and drew the outline with a pencil.  Some tentacles lay outside the circle, and I hand-cut around the circle and tentacles.  The layout comes from Freshly Made Sketches #136.

Since it is a birthday card, I couldn't resist putting a little birthday hat on Mr. Octopus.

The New Catalog is Here!

And let me share one of the cards from last Friday's annual New Catalog Kick-Off Open House.  Many of you have seen the Work of Art stamp set we received at the Catalog Reveal event in May. I think this set is going to be an awesome background set, and what a wonderful way to play with the new In Colors.  We also got a look at the new stitched satin ribbon.

Artisan and good buddy Jen Timko created a card with this set, and she has such a good eye for design and spacing.  I copied her stamp image layout.  ;)
