Time for another MDS Monday card challenge. MDS Monday is a weekly card and scrap sketch challenge using Stampin' Up's My Digital Studio software or other digital scrapping program.
Holly's added the technique challenge of changing the color of the patterned paper or DSP. This is another opportunity to practice with hybrids cards and the e-cutter. Using the download Everything Easter, I was off and running.
I changed the color of two layer of DSP and printed from My Digital Studio. I imported the jpeg into the e-cutter and cut with a small offset (border). This part was popped up for added dimension. I added pearls, a button, and more layers for more interest. The fun feature of this download is coordinating coloring in the embellishments that match the stamp outlines. Easy peasy!
Paper: Pool Party, Certainly Celery, Whisper White; Accessories: Pearl jewels, White baker's twine, Twitterpated button, Dimensionals; MDS Elements: Everything Easter Ensemble,
Natural Composition Overlays,
Whisper White - Stitching Straight,
Twitterpated button.

The Stamp Review Crew: The Open Sea
Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop! We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday. This round we are looking at the masculine set The Open Sea. This is the first stop from the top, but if you are hopping around in a circle, you have just come from Betty's blog. She is just so creative!
To kick us off, I started with a Father's Day card.
Following Mix-Ability Challenge #35, I created the interesting textured paper by gluing tissue paper to a card base, then painting with a mixture of blue and white acrylic paint. To highlight the wrinkles, I brayered with Midnight Muse ink. I also rubbed the wrinkles lightly with oil pastel crayons for a little more highlighting. This card uses Sweet Sunday Sketch #206.
Stamps: The Open Sea, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Very Vanilla Core'dinations, Tissue paper; Ink: Marina Mist, Midnight Muse, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso; Accessories: Sweet Sorbet Accessories, Aquapainter, Brayer, Sponge, Adorning Accents edgelits, Bitty Banners framelits, Circles Collection framelits, Big Shot, Acrylic paints, Oil pastel crayons, Sewing machine, Thread, Dimensionals.
Searching around for some 3-D inspiration, I came across some book binding ideas.
I created the covers by adding Epic Day paper to chipboard, after stamping with The Open Sea and World Map images.
After mitering the corners and wrapping and gluing the cover edges, Epic Day paper was also added to the inside of the covers. I also sponged the edges for an aged look.
I found card stock to be too bulky, so I used vanilla-colored copy paper. This binding process is called coptic stitch bookbinding. I followed this tutorial.
I have to say, that was pretty fun to make! It brought me back to my cross-stitch days.
Stamps: The Open Sea, World Map BG; Paper: Epic Day DSP, Chipboard, Copy paper; Ink: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Versamark; Accessories: Linen Thread, Gold EP, Sponge, Needle; Font: Vivaldi.
Come back on Friday; I'm going to have another Open Sea card for the Friday Mashup challenge. ;)
Make sure you check out the next stop to see what Cindy at Stamps, Paper, and Ink put together with the set. Her projects are always amazing! Thanks for stopping by!

Mix-Ability Catch-Up
Time for more Mix-Ability Challenge catch-up. It is a learning process for me to dabble in different art media, and I hope you are inspired to try it too!
MIX42 - Heavy Metal
This challenge originally called for covering die-cut chipboard pieces with aluminum foil and acrylic paint. I went to the interwebz for some metal art inspiration, and ended up with another process: onto a chipboard piece glue a canvas sheet piece, dry & flattened leaf, and aluminum foil. I used spray adhesive. I didn't like the look of the acrylic paint, so I used black spray paint, dried, then rubbed gently with soft steel wool. It was coming along nicely until I broke through the aluminum foil, so I stopped. Very fun learning experience!
MIX45 - Chalk It To Me! - Poppin' Pastels
I started off my sponging Versamark and Stampin' Pastels through a stencil. From there I built up the scene with Dictionary background and Barnyard Buddies stamps and acrylic paint applied by credit card and bubble packing material.
MIX46 - Merry Mixed Media - Bright projects with two different art media
Little Missy and I finally got a chance to play with the Gelli plate. We had fun layering the stencils, using Birgit's sample as a model. For dimension, I added embossing paste to the Falling Snow stencil. A folded tree with some glitter trim finishes it off.
If you are interested in the supplies used for these projects, you can find them in my SCS gallery. Thanks for stopping by!

MDSM57 O Canada
It's Tami's turn to give us a fun page sketch on MDS Monday.
I love film strips, and it is not too hard to find a subject of which I took way too many photos. :)
I wanted to stay with a clean look, but it felt a little empty. I added a few embellishments. Hard to strike a balance between clean and too busy.
Who's afraid to stick their thumb in a bass's mouth? Not my girl!
MDS Elements: Convention 2012 - fun, All Time Fave - camera; Paper: Lemonade Stand DSP; Accessories: Whisper White - Stitching Straight, Candid Frames - film frame, Essential Wooden Elements - chevron; Font: Bernard MT Condensed, Arial Narrow.
