FM149 Monochromatic Too Kind

Hello Everyone!  Time for another Friday Mashup challenge.  Cindy is bringing us today's challenge.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project that's "Monochromatic".
  2. Create a project with "Flowers".
  3. or Create a "Monochromatic project with Flowers".
Flowers, flowers, so many flower choices.  Which one to choose?  The current set Too Kind is just about my favorite ever, so here we go!

I grabbed Freshly Made Sketches #124, using one of my favorite techniques of stamping an image and then splitting it into panels.  I guess this card is a fave-fave!  Let's make it a triple... don't you just love Blushing Bride?  Matches the challenge photo pretty well too.

This card is also for Love Fest 2014, over at Splitcoaststampers.  It is a color challenge with another fun inspiration photo.

Stamps: Too Kind; Paper: Blushing Bride, Baked Brown Sugar, Whisper White, Vellum card stock; Ink: Blushing Bride, Real Red, Baked Brown Sugar; Accessories: Silver mini brads, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Texture Boutique, Dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!

Some Love Fest Challenges

I've been playing around with Love Fest Challenges on Splitcoaststampers, and I've shared some of them already.  I thought I'd share more of my goofing around.

LOVEFEST2014D ~ The joys, benefits and challenges of crafting OCD!

I couldn't just post a photo of my crafting space; I had to scrap it. #craftingdisease

LOVEFEST2014G ~ Let's Score

A fun accordion fold card.

LOVEFEST2014H ~ Heartfelt Greetings

I ended up going down the path of digging up some old photos of my son and me in a trail running race, and I scrapped them.  Like those "mud splashes" I splattered on the page?  He is grown and out of the house now, so it is fun to remember those times.

Thanks for stopping by!

MDSM55 We Got Dumped On...

Another manic Monday... time for the MDS Monday challenge.  Today Cindy is giving us a page sketch.

Cindy's twist is to change the state and add wooden embellishments or elements to the page.  Phew!  I didn't read the wooden embellishment part, but thankful I used one on my page.  Score!

This page tells the story.  We are living under mounds of snow, one-lane side streets, and no visibility at every intersection.  We won't see grass until June.

I used the Let It Snow digital kit that I picked up on sale last week.  Don't forget to check the MDS download in each week's Weekly Deals... fantastic discounts!

MDS Elements: Stamps:  Let It Snow - snow swirls, This And That Make Note, Natural Composition Overlays; Paper: Let It Snow DSP; Accessories:  Shaped Clips, Top Notch Woodcuts, Regals Paper Buttons, Baker's Twine - White, Blossom Builders Rhinestones, Sara's Sequins, Very Vanilla - Stitching Straight, Fifty Nifty, File It Fun - label 2,  Large Arrow punches: Font: You Are Loved, Arial Narrow.

FM148 Let's Get into Shape!

Hi Everyone!  Time for another Friday Mashup, and today Lynda is challenging us to use our geometric shapes.  Specifically triangles and hexagons.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with "Hexagons".
  2. Create a project with "Triangles".
  3. or Create a project using "Hexagons" & "Triangles".
I'll call this a scrap card, because I ended up putting it together with a bunch of left-over scraps on my desk.

To satisfy the hexagon/triangle requirement, I punched out triangle shapes from the Kaleidoscope paper, glued them to a scrap piece of paper, and then punched again with the hexagon punch.  That's taking mashing literally!  To echo the long and tall layout of the hexagons, I used a long and tall card base.

Stamps: Geometrical; Paper: Bermuda Bay, Basic Black, Whisper White, Kaleidoscope DSP; Ink: Crushed Curry, Strawberry Slush; Accessories: Basic Metal button, Bermuda Bay taffeta ribbon, Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, Triangle punch, Hexagon punch, Arrows EF, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

Mix-Ability Catch-Up Cont'd

I have more Mix-Ability Challenge projects to share. Well, what the heck is up with me and all the mixed media projects?  Sigh, our Florida trip was cancelled with this weather, so I have been relaxing this weekend and doing what I wanna do.  It is a small consolation prize; I'm still pretty bummed.

MIX39 - Watercolor-It

This is for LOVEFEST2014C Doodle-Do, doodling on your project, as well as watercoloring.   I traced the background of my scene with pencil (with the help of the internet), stamped the images with the help of some masking, then erased some pencil lines. I watercolored the main images. I was aiming for a clean scene; I only wished I hadn't screwed up the sentiment.  DH bakes quite often, and he always says this. Funny guy.

MIX41 - No Paper Allowed!

Here we were only to use paper as our base, all other layers should be art media (paint, gesso, etc.) or other type of materials (chipboard, metal, canvas, wood).  In this case, I applied gesso to my creativity journal page, which really wasn't necessary, because I then applied layers of gesso mixed with acrylic paint.  I applied embossing paste with the SU Build-a-Banner stencil.  The house was created using a retired chipboard piece, traced onto canvas.  I applied gesso to the chipboard clouds, then stamped with Good Grid to create texture, and finally sponging with Smoky Slate ink.

If you are interested in the supplies used for these projects, you can find them in my SCS gallery.  Thanks for stopping by!
