Day of Gratitude Wishes

I can't seem to get enough of the stamp set Day of Gratitude. It wasn't on my wish list. I received it when I attended Stampin' Up Regionals, and I have used it A LOT! Love that!!

This is a get well card for a friend. I spied this card (stampercamper on Stampin' Addicts) from the stamp set overview page, and it got me to thinking about using vellum (what it looked like to me from far away). Using the ColourQ challenge #56, I ran with it.

I used my coluzzle to cut a circle in the main card base, then after attaching each successive layer, I cut another circle. I love how you can see the sentiment through the vellum window. :)

Stamps: Day of Gratitude, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper: Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Vellum Paper; Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Certainly Celery, Garden Green; Accessories: Pearl Jewels, Rich Razzleberry ribbon, Coluzzle, Perfect Details Texturz Plate, Big Shot.

Deer Season...

... I know, a horrible thought! I bike amongst the deer often, and talk to them, so it is always sad to see them go. It's also annoying that I have to stop biking for a while so I don't end up being strapped to a hood as well.

This card uses the ColorQ and Mojo Monday challenges. I'm getting into these challenges. Is it that I need more thank you cards lately, or I am sending more thank you cards because of challenges? Hmmmm.

I brayered the background, used the Big Shot and Texturz Plate to get some wood-looking texture, and stitched a bit.

Stamps: Nature Silhouettes, Thank You Kindly; Paper: Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Sweet Pea DSP, Regals Collection DSP; Ink: So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso; Accessories: Brayer, Sponges, Always Artichoke Seam Binding, Circle Scissors Plus, Texure Plates Kit #4, Big Shot, Sewing machine, Thread.

Countdown To Christmas: Friday Mashup!

Six weeks to go...

Woohoo, I got picked to be the guest designer over at Friday Mashup again! Love it!! This time we are doing a sketch challenge.

This card was inspired by one I saw done by Ilina Crouse, and we made a similar version at the Stamp-a-Stack this week. Super fun to make!

Working with the Sweet Treat cups means you have to assemble in a certain order.
  • Stamp in Early Espresso on Bashful Blue DSP, punch 1-3/4" circle out of Bashful Blue DSP.
  • Use a pencil to trace your punched circle on the Whisper White mat later. Using Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamp snowglobe in Bashful Blue on Whisper White. Decorate Whisper White image with Dazzling Diamonds glitter and 3-D cut-outs.
  • Sandwich a Sweet Treat cup between the Bashful Blue DSP and Whisper White, hold the cup in place and remove the Bashful Blue DSP, trace the cup outline on the Whisper White.
  • Fill cup with a very small amount of Buffalo snow (~ 1/4 tsp or less), remove cup liner, and attach to Whisper White. Assemble the rest of the card.

Stamps: Sweet Snowglobe, Sincere Salutations; Paper: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Bashful Blue DSP; Ink: Early Espresso, Bashful Blue, Cherry Cobbler, Cherry Cobbler marker, Always Artichoke marker; Accessories: Brads, Whisper White ribbon, Sweet Treat cup, Buffalo Snow, Two-Way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Large Oval punch, Modern Label punch, 1-3/4" Circle punch, Northern Flurry embossing folder, Big Shot, Dimensionals.
And another card... I have been dying to ink up the hostess set Northern Hearts, but I needed some inspiration. I found this Scandinavian scarf, and thought it was perfect.

I used bleach to stamp the background snowflakes. And of course stitching is the perfect complement to the scarf inspiration.

Stamps: Northern Hearts, Warmest Regards; Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, Very Vanilla; Ink: Cherry Cobbler marker, Marina Mist; Accessories: Brads, Bleach, Cherry Cobbler seam binding, Large Oval punch, Modern Label punch, Sewing machine, Thread.
Don't forget to play along with the Mashup this week. Thanks for stopping by!

For The Veterans

I thought I would make a quick patriotic-themed card, in honor of the veterans who defend and have defended our freedoms. Sorry I didn't get this posted sooner. I was just finishing up as the ladies arrived for Stamp-a-Stack.

This is an ATC version of a card I made a while back, which was originally inspired by Michelle Zindorf.

Stamps: Wanted; Paper: Bayou Blue, Very Vanilla; Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Ruby Red, Bayou Blue, Versamark; Accessories: Sponges, Brads, Distressing tool, White EP, Post it notes, Sewing machine, Thread.

Technique: Embedded Paper Or Inset Embossing

Hi Everyone,

One of the Workshop WOWs at the Baltimore Regionals was presented by Debbie Paisie, which she called Embedded Paper. I have also seen a tutorial on Lyssa's blog, calling it Inset Embossing Folder Technique. Either way, pretty fun technique and quite the WOW effect!

Glue smaller shapes, from punches or Big Shot die-cuts, onto your main cardstock panel, and then run it through a large, very detailed embossing folder such as the Square Lattice embossing folder. This will give the appearance that all pieces are part of one piece of cardstock.

This is the card I recreated.

Stamps: French Foliage; Paper: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke; Ink: Soft Suede; Accessories: Mini Vintage Tag, Always Artichoke ribbon, Square Lattice embossing folder, Leaves #2 die, Big Shot.

And here is a not-so-hot shot of Debbie's WOW board of projects (sorry!). Try clicking on the photo to see it in more detail.

Lots of oooh's and aaah's when she showed us her cards. So go give it a try! :)

Happiness Is...

As a kid, I used to love that daily cartoon, "Happiness Is..." For me, happiness would be friends and coffee in a cafe. Unfortunately that doesn't happen much since Little Missy came along. *sigh*

This card uses the Daily Grind set from There She Goes, and it is a CASE of Jodi Collins's work. These TSG sets are very cute, but they really try my coloring ability, which is why I fail to use them on my shoebox swaps. :( In any case, perfect for a one-of-a-kind card for a friend.

Here is an up-close picture of the zig-zag stitching - love it!

Stamps: Daily Grind by There She Goes; Paper: Early Espresso, Whisper White, Sweet Pea DSP; Ink: Black Onyx Versafine, Crumb Cake; Accessories: Sponge, Circle punches, Scallop Circle punch, Aquapainter, Watercolor Crayons, Dimensionals, Sewing machine, Thread.

Baltimore Regionals Make & Takes

These are the projects we made as Make & Takes in Baltimore during Regionals, all using the Day of Gratitude stamp set.

The color palette for these projects are Cajun Craze, River Rock, Old Olive, and Early Espresso. I love the "thank you" font in this set!

A little potpourri in this box makes a nice little favor, maybe for the Thanksgiving table setting?

I haven't finished my scrapbook page yet. On the "to-do" list after Holiday classes are done. I'll get back to you on that! :)
