The Stamp Review Crew: Seaside Shore

Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop: Inspiring you one stamp set at a time

Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop!  We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday.  This week we are highlighting samples made with a returning stamp set, Seaside Shore. This set appeals to beginner stampers, as it doesn't necessarily require a Big Shot for coordination, and it brings back the art of fussy cutting. Come on, you know you love it!!  :)  If you are following the hop in order, you have just arrived from the lovely Mickey Roberts's blog.

Summer is incredibly busy driving my daughter to and fro to camps, swimming, and ice skating.  I haven't really had a moment to sit down and stamp, and I have been designing on-the-go.  So this is a triple-whammy card for Sunday Stamps, Stamp Club, and Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop.

Stampin' Up Seaside Shore
Another confession is that I meant to use this set for Stamp Club last season, but I never was able to squeeze it in.  So using retired paper I had ear-marked (please don't beat me with a wet noodle), I used the recent Freshly Made Sketch #295 for this card.  As an alternative, you could replace the background paper with a Dapper Denim sheet from Color Theory DSP and stamp some fish for the window.

Here is the color combination for this week's Sunday Stamps Challenge.

Stamps: Seaside Shore; Paper: Soft Sky, Dapper Denim, Very Vanilla, By the Shore DSP; Ink: Dapper Denim, Calypso Coral; Accessories: Linen Thread, Pearl Jewels, Silver Brads, 2" Circle Punch, 2-1/2" Circle Punch.

And just as I am claiming to be too busy, I finally had a day off on Saturday and got a chance to make another card.

Stampin' Up Seaside Shore
This card does use Color Theory DSP.  The ombre sheets are good for backgrounds, as well as stamping directly onto it in order to get images with a gradient of color (used for yellow tang fish).

Want to put your fish in a bowl but don't have a stamp image?  No problem!  Make your own with some circle framelits.

Stamps: Seaside Shore, Timeless Textures; Paper: Soft Sky, Dapper Denim, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Color Theory DSP; Ink: Crushed Curry, Soft Sky, Dapper Denim, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Memento Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Linen Thread, Layering Circles Framelits, Big Shot.

Hop on over to the fabulous Ann Schach's blog to see what fun projects she has put together with this week's set.

I love how you allowed us to peek in at your fishes, Heidi! So glad you were able to show a card made with the Color Theory paper since you mentioned it as an alternative for the beautiful, but no longer available, ombre paper from the last catalog. (I just loved that paper...)

Nice to see that DSP in use; makes a great backdrop for the fish bowl. And the port hole is a great idea!

No wet OR dry noodle beatings from me! I say use it if you got it :) Yes, the fussy cutting is growing on me. And you did an awesome job with yours! LOVE the tip about making a fish bowl with the circle dies.

An dynamic duo of cards, Heidi! The porthole is awesome...and I think I still have a few sheets of this paper. What a great way to use it up! The second card is adorable. I love the aquarium. Thanks for the inspiration!

I believe we are in the same boat on two things: 1)running my son arrived the state for travel sports; and 2) didn't get to use the Seaside Shore set with my club ladies last year! Ha ha! Both your cards are adorable, and I am glad to have a chance to demo it this year! :)
