The Stamp Review Crew: Painted Petals

Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop!  We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday.  This week we are looking at the gorgeous Occasions catalog set Painted Petals, which is part of a whole suite of coordinating products.  You are probably arriving from Mike Funke's blog.  I love his classy stampin' style!

So I am just busting out Painted Petals to play with it.  Do you find the mini catalogs have so much good stuff in them you have to pace yourself?  This set has such beautiful flower images, you can stamp just about anything, and it will look great.

Using the Mojo Monday #387 layout, I spritzed the stamps with water before stamping on watercolor paper.  Then I splattered with background with Lost Lagoon to simulate the sky.  OMG, can I tell you how soft this cotton twine is?  You've got to try some!  Please note I used the retired embossing folder Stripes; sorry about that oversight!

Stamps: Painted Petals; Paper: Lost Lagoon, Very Vanilla, Painted Blooms DSP, Watercolor paper; Ink: Old Olive, Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss; Accessories: Painted Blooms cotton twine, Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, Corner Rounder punch, Water spritzer, Watercolor brush, Stripes EF, Big Shot, Sewing machine, Thread.

And this flower-and-leaf cluster is the real reason I bought this stamp set.  You can create just gorgeous flower bunches.

Ink up the flowers with the main color, thump with a darker-colored Stampin' Write marker in the center or bottom of the flower blossoms, spritz a couple times with water, and once you stamp, you will have amazing blended color.

You could make this a single-layer card, but for the sake of simplicity at stamp club, we will stamp the sentiment on a separate strip of card stock.

Stamps: Painted Petals; Paper: Rose Red, Whisper White; Ink: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Memento Tuxedo Black, Rose Red marker; Accessories: Pearl Jewels, Itty Bitty punch pack, Stampin' Spritzer, Dimensionals.

Make sure you check out the next stop to see what Cindy at Stamps, Paper, and Ink put together with the set. Her projects are always amazing!

Gorgeous cards, Heidi. I really love the second one. The punched out flowers with the pearls are such a perfect touch.

These are beautiful! Love the stitching and spatter on the first one....and how the sentiment splits the flowers in the second! See you Saturday :)

Wow - love the Lost Lagoon splatters on the first card. I think the second one is my favorite, but they're both very pretty.

So much juicy goodness in both of these cards! I can't wait to try the flower clusters on the second card myself :)

Oh my! Both breathtaking examples. Love the stitching and spritzing on the first and the cluster of flowers cascading on the second.

Two stunning creations Heidi! Love the two different colour combos. The spritzing on the first card looks great and I love the flowers in the second one with the sentiment strip through the middle. I thought you had masked the middle off and stamped over it. Just beautiful!

I love your projects, Heidi! The first one shows a mixed media look (love the striped embossing) and the second is gorgeous and clean. The two toned flowers are so pretty!
