FM127 October ~ National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.  Each year, approximately 870,000 families experience the loss of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth.  We have a support group through our local hospital called H.A.N.D.S., Hope after Neonatal Death through Sharing, which holds a Walk to Remember and balloon release event every October to commemorate our babies.  In addition, the support group provides assistance and emotional support to the families undergoing the loss of an infant, including ceramic memory boxes, crocheted blankets and infant gowns, and help with funeral arrangements.  I cannot donate these type of items, as I have no talent for these crafts, but I can donate cards.  The support group sends out cards to members during their time of grief as well as on the anniversary of their loss.

My challenge to you is to create a thinking of you or condolence card, and if you are inclined, donate the card to a local infant loss charity or support group.  You can also send your donation card(s) to me, and I will donate them to my local H.A.N.D.S. charity.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a "Thinking of you or condolence card."
  2. Create a card/cards and "Donate it to a Charity or Organization of your choice."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Thinking of you/Condolence Card and donate it to H.A.N.D.S via Heidi."
Not too long ago some of us stampers got together for a shoebox swap to create cards for H.A.N.D.S.  These are the shoebox projects I put together for the event.

Stamps: Thoughts & Prayers; Paper: Old Olive, Whisper White, Brocade Background DSP; Ink: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip; Accessories: Silver brads, Pinking Hearts border punch, Dimensionals.

The second card uses Freshly Made Sketches #90.

Stamps: Simply Soft, Sweet Essentials; Paper: Baja Breeze, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Greenhouse Gala DSP;  Ink: Baja Breeze, Early Espresso; Accessories: Finishing Touches edgelits, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

And another card using the sketch from Retro Sketches #67.

Stamps: Kind & Caring Thoughts; Paper: Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Attic Boutique DSP; Ink: Strawberry Slush, Blushing Bride, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz marker; Accessories: White baker's twine, Dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful cards, Heidi. Thanks for highlighting such a worthy group. I have a cousin who recently suffered this tragedy. I will make sure they are aware of this support.

Hi Heidi - such an important cause to support. I made a card and linked it up over at the Mash Up. I'd love to send it to you so that you can get it to HANDS. Just let me know where I can send it - my email is ssjones925@gmail.com.
Thanks Heidi!
