FM98 Almost Time for EB!

Today's Mashup is a sketch and bunnies.  What's my hang up with bunnies?  I like them well enough, but I have never felt the drive to buy a stamp set with a bunny as the main character.  So I was a bit stumped.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project "using the Sketch".
  2. Or Make a project with "Bunnies".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with the "Sketch featuring Bunnies".
Instead I started thinking about Easter and scrappy pages I need to complete, and to My Digital Studio I went.  I did my best to incorporate the sketch, and I'm actually quite pleased with how it turned out.  Kinda makes me think of a portrait hanging on the wall.  This is a pic of Little Missy and her BFF visiting EB.  I just had to buy the Spring Fever digital kit; it just matched the subject matter perfectly.

Does anyone know the song from every episode of Sid, The Science Kid, "I learned something new, something new today..."  Well, I did!  While working on other design team duties, I came across a video showing how to edit a punch shape, and then use that edited shape to crop things like embellishments!  This is exactly what I needed for this page I was in the middle of designing.  I typically work on the left side of the MDS program, and this option pops up at the right side.  What?!  I would have never known!!!  I feel like I've been living under a rock... shame and excitement all at the same time!  *Sigh*

You can click the photos to enlarge.  Click "add punch" from the right sidebar, and while the punch is highlighted, click "edit shape".

This pop-up window shows up.  You can click the edge you would like to edit and click "insert point" and then drag the point around to edit.  You'll get a chance to name your new shape.

So check out my top layer flag or pennant shape below the rosette/photo.  That isn't paper, it is ribbon!  Add your ribbon embellishment to your workspace and click "crop" (right sidebar).

Click "crop shape" and choose your newly named edited shape in the pop up window.  Since you have just created a punch, you can also add your punch directly to your workspace and do a paper fill option.  How fun!  Now you must go try this trick immediately!!  :)

Edit to add: I created a step-by-step tutorial for creating the page and a video post on how to edit a punch and insert an embellishment into a punch.

This page came out so cute!! I love the fun little characters on the bottom too and what a great trick with MDS I'll be using that soon. I also love that elephant card in the last post! Great use of the stamp from the Dude kit.
