WOW Swap

For my WOW swap, I want to make at least 50 cards, but I really want to make 100. Well, so far I have one, as I am typing this. *eyeroll* This is a fabulous swap, and I would really like to bring home some spectacular swaps for my ladies. The race is on!

So, for the swap, you have to incorporate a WOW technique. I am making a card I created back in December for the Chinese New Year, using a technique called Paper Lantern. Luckily Stampin' Up came out with Elements of Style, which has a perfect floral image, and thankfully, I got this stamp set at the Michelle Zindorf class.

Once the circular main image is stamped and colored, run it through a crimper. Ink the raised edges with dark ink; I use spots here for more control. I embossed little cardstock "tabs" above and below the lantern with gold embossing powder, and I pulled a thread out of the 1/4" grosgrain ribbon to create a little red tassel for the bottom. I sealed the ribbon from unraveling further with Crystal Effects. The card looked a little plain with smooth red and black cardstock, so I ran the card base through the Big Shot using the Background I Texturz Plate. You can see a hint of it in the first picture.

Ok, now to repeat 99 more times! Wish me luck!!

Stamps: Elements of Style, Dream Gardens; Paper: Basic Black, Real Red, Whisper White; Ink: Black Stazon, Versamark, Chocolate Chip; Accessories: Aquapainter, Brights Collection Watercolor Crayons, Crimper, Gold Embossing Powder, Real Red grosgrain ribbon, Coluzzle, Background I Texturz plate, Big Shot.

Thanks for stopping by!

Love this lantern and love the tip on using spot for more control when doing the raised part. Very valuable stuff. Good luck getting done and HAVE FUN! We expect a full report.
