Homewood Suites Swap

I bought the tea and coffee set, Morning Cup. Is anyone surprised? I love creating a "tea break" scene with Designer Series Paper that could look like old vintage wallpaper. The thought of friends, sitting down and chatting over a hot drink, makes me smile! Gezellig! (Dutch translation: a cozy, social time)

Imagine the Eyelet Border punch strip as a delicate table cloth, put out especially for the tea party. The technique I used is called Paper Piecing, stamping on another piece of cardstock, cutting out, and gluing on top of already stamped image.

I paper pieced the bottom of the tea pot (along with some sponging for shading), the tea cup, and the tea bag label. This eliminates the need for any masking. A little bit of shading under the cup and pot with Watercolor Crayons complete the scene.

Oh, BTW, I did some google research on vintage wallpaper for this one and received some viruses and trojans on my computer for my effort. Unfun! But all is fixed, thanks to my multi-talented, company-computer-guy husband.

Stamps: Morning Cup; Paper: Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Early Espresso, Baja Breeze, Garden Greenhouse DSP; Ink: Early Espresso, Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride marker, Soft Suede marker, Pear Pizzazz marker; Accessories: Modern Label punch, Word Window punch, Eyelet Border punch, Sponge, Aquapainter, Neutrals Watercolor Crayons, Sewing Machine, Thread.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lovely, it looks like the teapot is on a tablecloth! I love that effect with the "wallpaper" in the back. Nice scene!

Beautiful card and the paper piercing adds a nice depth. Your description of the lace tablecloth and the way the teapot and cut were sitting really did look like a table ready for our afternoon tea.
