Dormant Retiring Blog Hop

Welcome to Stampin' Addicts Retiring Dormant list Blog Hop. I'm so happy to be part of my first blog hop! Hope you enjoy your stay!! The blog hop will feature some of the different stamp sets that are retiring January 4th. These are just a few of the 32 sets that are being retired; full list here.
If you have been following the blog hop in order you've just seen Kim's wonderful creations featuring Quilt Quips. I have stamped samples from the set Sip by Sip for you.

Do you love a 50's diner? I just love the retro lady in this set. When I first purchased the set, I sat down to create a bunch of cards, and I was always thinking about 50's kitchen decor. Now that time has passed, a new idea came to mind - 50's diner. After an easy google image search, I found the perfect picture with black, white, red, and mustard yellow decor.
The black and white diamonds represent the diner's tile floor. I was thinking about weaving this part of the card, but I thought glossy would be better. So, off to My Digitial Studio to create my own custom pattern paper (I used the 1.25" square punch) on glossy cardstock. The houndstooth paper is to represent the skirts on the waitresses perhaps. And I put crystal effects on the coffee mug so it looks like ceramic.

Stamps: Sip by Sip; Paper: Real Red, More Mustard, Whisper White, Night & Day DSP, My Digital Studio custom print on Glossy White; Ink: Close to Cocoa, More Mustard, Real Red marker; Accessories: Aquapainter, Crystal effects, Playground designer buttons, Linen thread, My Digital Studio software.

Good luck on that test! My second project may be a little off the wall. The coffee stain image always reminds me of the long (looonnnngggg) nights I used to spend studying in college (full-time student, two young children, husband who worked nights -- you can imagine). It conjures up some pleasant memories, with the help of the thought of a caffeine rush, which is odd since it was torturous at the time! I thought I would create some type of studying scene. I created the notebook page with a ruler and Stampin' Write marker.

Stamps: Sip by Sip, Sincere Salutations; Paper: Bordering Blue, Kraft, Ruby Red, Whisper White, Night & Day DSP; Ink: Close to Cocoa, Bordering Blue, Brocade Blue marker; Accessories: Sponge, Kraft taffeta, Bind-It-All.

Who needs tea? Doesn't friendship bonding always happen over a cup of coffee? My 3-D project is a coffee packet holder.

This is sort of a mixture of old and new. I ran my Kraft cardstock through a crimper, to look like the sleeves for paper coffee cups these days. I also used Bordering Blue and Bella Bleu DSP, which reminds me of the eggshell blue in my Grandmother's house. More crystal effects on the coffee mug so it shines!

Here is the inside of the card. I cut two pieces of 4.25 x 8.5" and folded in half. I cut a triangular piece off one side of the 4.25 x 4.25" folded half, to create the pocket. This pocket was then attached to the back of the card (the full half) and the pocket piece was attached with Sticky Strip along the inside bottom. I then decorated and tucked a coffee single pack into the pocket.

Stamps: Sip by Sip; Cardstock: Bordering Blue, Kraft, Very Vanilla, Bella Bleu DSP; Ink: Close to Cocoa, Bordering Blue, Real Red marker; Accessories: Aquapainter, Paper Piercer, Eyelet edge punch, Very Vanilla taffeta, Crimper, Crystal effects, sewing machine & thread.

A fond farewell, my retro lady!

what great cards! I love the coffee cup stain image and that card, but my fave is the first one with the custom created background - it's just a perfect reflection of the diner era

Love all your cards! Such a cute idea with the study one, and love the crimped Kraft on the coffee holder. I like tea, but I'm a coffee nut.

Very inventive and what a great idea bringing in the MDS to help you create your vision. Don't have a favorite as they are all wonderful though honestly I always thought the mug stain image was the best! Must be my sloppy ways showing through.
